Books&Movies.

Hello teacher and readers!
Today I’m going to talk of something that I really like, and I usually do when I have free time: Read and see movies. For now, I don’t have enough time, because of the studies so I can’t do these things commonly, but some texts, that I have to read for the University, are good anyway.  In 2010, I took a sabbatical year so I had the time to do it whenever I wanted.

That year, I read one of my favorites book “El Baile de la Victoria”, this is a written by a Chilean writer, Antonio Skarmeta, I haven´t read this author before, but someday I went to “Chilean Book Fair” and this book caught my attention, so I bought and I love it now. Later, I saw a movie based on this book and I hated it.

As to movies, I love watch it! I have many favorites movies, one of them are “Pride and Prejudice”, “Celda 211” or “Legends of the Fall”. Some movies that I really like are the Spanish and England movies, for chance I have found different of these movies and still don’t disappoint me. Of course, I watch other films, but I try to not only see Hollywood movies although there are some one that are really good too.

My favorite actress is Keira Knightley, she is a British actress and I love her and her movies! She is the protagonist of “Pirates of the Caribbean”, but this is one of my least favorite movie.

My favorite kind of movie is drama, but not only love drama, every kind of drama. Another kind of movie that I really like is documental; there are documentaries of many subjects! And I should watch more of them.

I think that’s all, bye.

What do I to help the planet?

Hello,
Today I’m going to talk about go green. Well, I know this topic is very important in our time, because of the global warming or disinterest of the people. Maybe, this is not one of the topics that I know more, but I think that everyone have to contribute to help the planet, even some small things.

My contribution to help the planet is more than anything, that I ride my bike every day, I go to University of another near place on my bike, always. This is very good for the planet and for me, for the planet because you don’t contaminate the environment, like if you go in car or even in bus, and for me because this is a good physical exercise and you avoiding the stress of the coleective locomotion. Also, I really like walk. Another thing that I do usually is unplug every appliance when I am not in home, well, not all the appliance because I can’t unplug the refrigerator, for example, but I can unplug my TV, my radio or my notebook. Other contribution are turning off the light or thing like that. I know that my contributions are no the biggest thing that I could do, I know that I could do I lot more, but this is my grain of sand and I hope increase more.

Perhaps, I would join eco-organizations, but I think that are another organization that call my attention, maybe something with animals. But I believe that this organization are very significant to the world and it does a very good job.

One of the topics that I would like to do my emphasis is that I think that the people don’t do much for the planet of for us, but the industries are guiltier than people, because the companies not have any shame to contaminate and mess the planet if this is for make money. Therefore, we have to do things for the planet, we can’t sit back and wait, but at the same time, we must do something to stop the companies how to make money.

My last weekend (:

Today I’m going to talk about my weekend!
It was a good weekend, but a little quite and familiar, because I didn’t go to any party or something similar.
Well, in the New Year I went to Valparaiso, I had a really cool time but I lost all my documents! That was really bad, but anyway I had a wonderful time. In Monday, I went to the civil registration to recover my identity card and when I was there, the PDI of Valparaíso call me and they had my entire document! That was really good! Because I didn’t have to spend money or time!

Finally, last Saturday I went to Valparaiso again. I recover my documents and if I was in Valpo, was not going to return immediately, so I walked alone through the hills, I took many photos and it was a really relaxing time for me, maybe I need a time like this and I really like Valparaíso, the sea, the hills, the elevators and many other things, maybe no to live but for go for a days.  I returned about 6.30 .

And Sunday I studied and I had a nice time with my family because I visited my aunt’s house and I shared a time with my cousins and I laughed a lot.

This weekend, I have a party and I’m going to see a play of “Santiago a Mil” festival. The play that I’m going to see is of marionette.

Are chimps more intelligent than we thought?

Hello classmates and teacher!
Today I’m going to write about an article of the newspaper “The Guardian”, I find a article that talks about chimpanzee.

One of the important topics of Anthropology is about the evolution and language, because language is one of the subjects of study to understand the evolution of the human.
Well, the article read talks about chimpanzees and some abilities that we didn’t know.  This theme has relation with Anthropology because we need to know more about monkeys in general because we have the same ancestor.

The main idea of the text is that many animals have the ability to give warning to the others of the group about a danger; the difference of the chimp is that he can differentiate when the others of the herd know or disregard the danger so the reaction is different. If the other don’t know about the hazard they are going to start to scream but if the other know about the danger, they don’t have the same reaction. So, this mean that chimps are more intelligent that we thought because they not only have reflex reactions unless, they can think about the grade of danger that the herd is exposed and according to this, they do the warning alarm.
